The Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition (LLSR) epitomizes a career of excellence in dentistry. It acknowledges the continued achievements of Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) Masters who clearly recognize the professional obligation to remain current in their profession and “give back” by staying active in organized dentistry or by reaching out to various communities in need of dental services. LLSR candidates create an example that reminds each member of the dental profession to never lose sight of this professional obligation.

AGD Masters who qualify for this honor are recognized leaders in the dental profession who have completed a challenging course of study in 17 dental disciplines, totaling more than 1,600 hours of continuing education. Recipients must also have completed 100 service points in any combination of dental-related community/volunteer service and/or service to organized dentistry. Only those services performed since the date Mastership was received or since a previous LLSR was received are eligible.

The LLSR is not a credential and in no way may be represented to the public as such. A Master may receive the LLSR multiple times, in a sequential manner, as long as all requirements are met. Once a Master is first recognized by this achievement, subsequent recognitions may only include those credits and points earned since the date of the previous LLSR recognition. Recipients celebrate their professional accomplishment locally with their constituent leaders and fellow members.
